What is a Trade Licence?

Trade licenses are documents/certificates that permit a person to operate in a particular area/location for a particular trade or business. Within 30 days of starting your business, you must submit the application.

How to obtain a trade license

Obtaining a trade license is as simple as following these steps

Go to the website of the municipality you are interested in
Licensing applications can be filed with the municipal corporation. To access citizen services, select ‘Citizen Services’ in the website menu.
Sign up
Following that, the applicant must click on ‘Apply for Online Licenses’, where they can register and provide their details, such as their name, e-mail address, and mobile number. User IDs and passwords are generated by the system after the applicant submits their details.
Login and Fill Form
To apply for a new license, log in with your ID and password. It is important to fill in all the information in the form. These details include your business type, your NOC, and the details of your proper tax.
Submit form and Upload Documents
You must attach the required documents once the form has been filled out and the ‘submit’ button has been clicked. Afterward, Urban Local Bodies officials verify the application and documents.
Unique Application Number
It will automatically generate a Unique Application Number once the application is verified.
Payment of Fees
A payment window will appear. Click on ‘Make a payment’ to pay the prescribed fees. Payments for trade licenses can be made online in a variety of ways.
Issue of License number
License numbers are issued after the fee is paid.

Renewal of a trade license

It is necessary to apply for a renewal of the trade license within thirty days of its expiration date. Depending on the rules and regulations of the issuing authority, a delay in the renewal process may attract a fine.

Renewal of a license requires the following documents:

The original trade license;
Challans from previous years;
Property tax receipts that are up to date.
