Checking the Status of Your Driving Licence

  • Visit the official website of your state’s transportation department. Depending on the state, the website may differ. Make sure you’re on the right website.
  • There is a link to “Check your driving licence status”. To find out more, click the link and enter your date of birth, DL number, and state.
  • You can also check your Indian driving licence status online by visiting the Sarathi website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
  • On the Sarathi website, under “National Register (DL) Queries,” you will find an option called “Status of Licence.”
  • The “Status of Licence” option requires you to enter your date of birth, your DL number, and your state. Click “Submit” after entering the details.

When a driver registers their motor vehicle, they receive a Driving Licence Registration Certificate (RC). Here are some facts about your driving license

  • From the time you apply for the driving licence, it will take around a month for it to arrive at your doorstep. You must have someone authorized to accept the package on your behalf, even if you are not home.
  • RTOs and the government are constantly working to digitize the process of checking your driving license status online. If you don’t have a Learner’s License (LL), you should get one.
